Southampton is a city of two Universities. The University of Southampton has a student population of 17,000 and counts itself amongst the world’s leading universities. Based on six campuses, the largest of which is centred on Highfield, it has eight faculties specialising in Business & Law, Engineering, Health Sciences, Humanities, Medicine, Environmental Sciences, Applied Sciences and Social Sciences. Southampton Solent University is one of the UK’s newest universities having been founded in 2005. It offers 16,000 students courses in Arts, Design & Media, Business & Law, Maritime & Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, Sport & Tourism and Technology.
